Our Story
Check In Illinois was founded by a former school nurse and doctorate-prepared, board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a passion for supporting the mental health and well-being of children, families, and communities. Having worked directly in school settings, she understands firsthand the challenges educators and school staff face when trying to recognize students who may be experiencing mental health concerns.
Her unique combination of school-based nursing experience and advanced psychiatric mental health expertise inspired the creation of Check In Illinois. She envisioned a solution designed to help Illinois schools make mental health screening more accessible, organized, student-centered, and supportive of school staff—while creating opportunities for earlier identification of concerns and meaningful pathways to appropriate support and intervention.

We are committed to helping schools identify concerns sooner, connect students with appropriate resources, and foster environments where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
